While our operation may have been humble, our dedication was anything but.
In 2002, I launched WaterFilters.NET from my smallish college apartment. Our water filter inventory took up space nicely behind my sofa. After some measure of success, our business grew to necessitate the inclusion of a warehouse. So naturally, I bought a van. It was like a warehouse with wheels!
At the time, our focus was not to just operate a water filters company. Rather, we were out to build an organization committed to a set of core values and an elegant mission to ensure everyone throughout the world had access to clean and safe drinking water. Achieving this mission meant we needed to be faster, smarter – and just flat out better – than any and all competitors.
After these humble beginnings, the past decade has seen us achieve recognition as:
- A five-time honoree on the Inc 5000
- A top workplace in the state of Minnesota
- A Progress Minnesota honoree, awarded by the local business community
- Business Builder of the Year, as awarded by Upsize Minnesota magazine
Just as importantly, our success has enabled a partnership with charity: water, resulting in the construction of wells in two Ethiopian villages. You can see pictures of these wells by reading this post from last year.
Today, I’m proud to share another update that helps to illustrate our commitment to building a better, faster and smarter team. Please say ‘hello’ to our newest team members to achieve certification through the Water Quality Association (WQA):
Tammy Poncelet – Tammy joined our team as a Customer Service Agent more than two years ago. If you’ve ever called our customer service line, there’s a good chance you worked with Tammy to ensure you received the right water filters or filtration equipment delivered to your door.
As a new WQA Certified Sales Representative, Tammy has proven that she both talks the talk and walks the walk when it comes to water quality improvement. Mike Yanke – Mike joined our team last June, and if you’ve read our blog or visited our social networks over the past year, you are no doubt familiar with his work. A long-time content marketer, Mike dedicated himself to achieving WQA’s Certified Water Specialist distinction to ensure that any new content we develop provides industry-leading water filtration knowledge and insight.
While Tammy and Mike are the latest members of our team to earn Certification from the WQA, joining our Customer Service Manager JoAnne Cluth, among others, they certainly will not be the last.
I’m incredibly proud of the commitment that these and all WaterFilters.NET team members exhibit every day as we continue to evolve from our humble college apartment and mobile van-shaped warehouse beginnings into the online consumer’s first choice for water filters and filtration products.
